Losing Myself follows Zanele, a beautiful and accomplished woman in her early 30s living in Leslie (Mpumalanga). Her life appears perfect—she has a well-paying job and lives in the home she bought herself. But behind this exterior lies a life haunted by unresolved trauma. Sexually abused in her childhood and having lost both her parents, Zanele has fought to create stability. Yet the weight of her past bears heavily on her present, causing waves of depression and anxiety. Her world begins to unravel quietly until the pain becomes unbearable, pushing her toward the edge. This short film offers a heartfelt and sensitive portrayal of mental illness, illuminating how trauma can silently shape lives and how dangerous silence can be.
